I want to whine

I said that to one of my kids that is a constant whiner now days and they immediately had to go LOL.

Weather has been swinging from low 70s to high 20s... can't plant, body aches and sinus has went nuts. Trying to keep my seedling dealt with and wonder how to get the green onions planted.

Wood/coal stove is off, furnace is on. Propane is down to 40%. We used 5% in 10 days... not really bad but I was hoping to not have to get a refill before June when a summer fill is 25 cents a gallon cheaper.

Saw our first fly yesterday, that's about  4-6 wks early. Realized I had not restocked fly hotels or the zevo pads. Got that reordered.

Decided to recheck stock, Hubby doesn't always remember to update the inventory.

What are you doing ?

Ate odds and ends

that have been shoved in freezer. Finished with spag and meat sauce that I made at Hubby's request. Had chili and eggs 3 times.

Got a baconater from Wendy's after taxes done (again as got some info late) and a gas station pizza after a long day of running doctor appts and errands....Charlotte got some also LOL.

We did get take out Chinese after I got out of Urgent Care for really bad sinus infection that had my whole face swollen. PA was concerned with a slight stroke because I couldn't smile normal, had her feel how thick my cheek had swollen and she asked how I could even talk.

All the bills are paid for the month, FINALLY got through to new mortgage co to pay that.  They even had someone to call me and tell me it went through on their end.

Had wind storm three times, lost 1garden bed with dirt in it, hope we can fix it, spouting off the barn, back on and now hooked to 250 gallon tote and the railing off the deck.

Temp keeps floating from warmer than normal to below freezing. Can't plant anything and definitely don't want to waste time or money to redo it.

Weather forecast for fall..DROUGHT

Oh yeah, I told Hubby, he immediately started researching for rain spout deverters. Got 3 as we have to down spouts that just run into yard or driveway. He has the one that goes to driveway on a 5 gallon bucket so he can pour it in the cistern(cistern overflow goes to pond which is extremely too low) He dumped 30 gallons the other day during the rain storm. He put this barrel that we used at the old farm we rented before we moved here on the front porch so I can use it to water the gardens. The third one he is looking to see if he can run it directly to the cistern as it's within 10 ft of it.

I changed planting broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts and cabbages to spring planting as they need water. I will move the lettuce, greens and carrots to the vegopod on the deck where if needed I will just water it and let the rest die.

I rechecked what I am low on and NEED for pantry not WANT. Peas and corn. E is planting corn and asked how much I needed for freezer. Ten dozen gives us enough for the freezer for a year. Brussels sprouts, broccoli, caulifllower and cabbages are more a want than need. I would like peaches but that depends on price.I can always buy a few store bought.

I bought some tepary beans to try as they are meant to grow in desert or close to the type of area.

The blue barrel filled up before the rain stopped so Hubby went and got 2 of these 270 gallon tanks. He got this one done yesterday. The other one will go on the barn when this storm (high winds forecasted around 60 mph) gets through.  He dumped another 50 gallons of water into cistern from 5 gal. buckets he had set out to catch rain. Thinks the cistern is almost full since the house roof in the back goes to the cistern..

Menu... went to store

Budget for groceries...$150 PER MONTH. I can't go again except for a gallon of milk every other week until the end of April. I saved $52. By then we should be getting at least fresh greens for salads out of the gardens.

I got bagels for $2.25... If I find them for less than $3 for 6 I buy them as I know it costs me $3 for six to make from scratch.

I got 2 whole chickens for half price, now in freezer. Cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, russet potatoes, salad mix and celery also besides all the rest.

Check what was in frig to finish up.

Menu for suppers this week..LO is leftover

Lasagna, spinach artichoke bites and Texas garlic butter toast.

Gas station pizza after a day of errands and appts.

LO lasagna with salad and more of Texas toast (separated it into 3 meals so the last one is in the freezer still)

LO gas station pizza with salad.

Steak, baked potato and salad

Sausage patty with chef salad

Beef roast (from freezer) with potatoes and carrots. Sliced tomatoes.

Tonight is bacon, lettuce (salad HA HA) with tomatoes in wraps

Looking at beef and noodles, shredded beef open face sandwiches, beef stew or beef and dumplings with the left over roast. Serving for just the two of us and Hubby eatting less since he has to lose weight is making the meals go farther.

Blessed be
